Richard Butgereit, GISP

Richard Butgereit, GISP has extensive experience in the geospatial and emergency management fields. Richard most recently served as the Chief Information Officer at Sanborn starting in April 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Director of Catastrophe Response at the Geospatial Insurance Consortium (GIC) from November 2018 to March 2023. In this role, they provided geospatial support and data for the insurance industry and first responders following disaster events. Richard also held the same position at the Vexcel Data Program during the same period.

Before their work at GIC and Vexcel, Butgereit held various roles at the Florida Division of Emergency Management. From October 2016 to November 2018, they served as the Chief Information Officer, overseeing information technology, enterprise information management, application and database development, web, and GIS for the division and the Florida State Emergency Response Team. Richard represented the state of Florida in national geospatial organizations and served on multiple boards and advisory councils related to emergency management.

Butgereit's career began in 1994 as an Environmental Consultant at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, where they worked until August 2006.
