Kayla Quinnies has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Kayla started their career as a Residential Counselor at Structured Therapeutic Adolescent Residential Services (STARS) in 2008, where they supervised and facilitated structured interaction and provided support to residents.

In 2009, Kayla joined the University of Virginia as a Laboratory Technician in the Kipnis lab, specializing in the interaction between the immune system and cognitive function. Their responsibilities included technical lab work, lab management, and animal behavioral training.

In 2010, they transitioned to a Neuroscience Graduate Student role at the University of Virginia, focusing on studying the effects of Di-(2ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) on social behavior, stress response, and brain changes.
