Project Engineer - Excavation Design And Geotechnical at Sanford Underground Research Facility

David Vardiman is a seasoned geotechnical and exploration professional with extensive experience in the mining industry. Currently serving as Project Engineer for Excavation Design and Geotechnical at Sanford Underground Laboratory at Homestake since November 2009, David is responsible for the design, cost estimation, scheduling, and management of excavation contractors for underground and surface excavations to support research programs. Previously, as North American Exploration Manager at Robinson Nevada Mining Company and its successors from August 2006 to November 2009, David focused on 3D modeling to enhance resource targeting. David also held the position of District Exploration Manager at AngloGold Ashanti, where successful modeling efforts contributed to significant additions to ore reserves and resources. Earlier in David's career, from July 1976 to December 1996, important contributions were made as Chief Geologist at Homestake Mining Company, managing production geology for various precious and base metals. David Vardiman holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, obtained in 1976.
