John Markels

John Markels is the current Director at Sangamo Therapeutics. Prior to this, they held various positions at Merck, including Sr. Vice President of Emerging Markets, Sr. Vice President of EMEA and Asia Pacific Operations, and VP of Strategic Initiatives. John also served as Managing Director of MSD Mexico and President of Latin America. Before joining the pharmaceutical industry, John was a faculty member at the University of California, Berkeley in the College of Chemistry and the University of Delaware in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

John Markels has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware.
