Brian Søncksen

Brian S. is an experienced legal professional currently serving as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Federal Civil Rights Litigation Division for the City of Chicago since May 2023, where notable achievements include successfully defending the city in a wrongful death jury trial related to a police-involved shooting. Prior to this role, Brian S. was an Assistant State’s Attorney at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office from August 2018 to April 2023, overseeing numerous felony trials and contributing to multiple units, including Domestic Violence and Criminal Appeals. Earlier experience includes a legal internship with the Department of Justice, work as an intern law clerk for Chief Judge Karon O. Bowdre, and various roles in student governance and media production during educational tenure at the University of Alabama School of Law and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
