Marijke Molenaar is a senior scientist specializing in Monocyte Activation Test (MAT) test services and assay development at Sanquin since July 2010, overseeing a laboratory focused on determining pyrogen levels in parenteral products. In addition, Molenaar contributes to donor screening and viral diagnostic services. Molenaar serves as the Dutch representative in the EDQM/European Pharmacopoeia working party on Bacterial Endotoxin Testing, offering expert guidance on MAT and BET since February 2022. Molenaar holds a PhD from UMC Utrecht, where the focus was on optimizing viral vector technology to study gene function in the hypothalamus. Molenaar earned an MSc in Neuroscience and Cognition and a BSc in Biomedical Science from Utrecht University, following secondary education at Frederik Hendrik College.
