John Choi has extensive experience in law enforcement and military service. Since March 2018, John Choi has served as a Police Officer with the Santa Ana Police Department. Prior to this role, John Choi had a distinguished career in the Marine Corps, beginning in November 1996 and culminating with the position of Master Gunnery Sergeant in Marine Corps Recruiting, where duties included serving as a Recruiter Instructor and District Training Team Member. Additional roles in the Marine Corps included leadership positions such as Substation Commander and Company Gunnery Sergeant. John Choi holds educational credentials from Post University, where studies commenced in 2017. Retirement from the military is scheduled for June 30, 2018.

The Santa Ana Police Department is a full service police department with a full operational jail staffed by civilian Correction Officers. Santa Ana Police Department is comprised of more than 300 officers and over 200 civilian employees. The department currently has 50 fully funded sworn officer vacancies and numerous civilian vacancies. The opportunity to join a police department where you will rapidly gain seniority has never been greater. We anticipate hiring at least 125 sworn officers over the next 3 years to fill current vacancies and anticipated retirements. The Santa Ana Police Department handles approximately 11,000 calls for service each month and provides full service operations in various divisions such as: Patrol, Traffic, General Investigations, Special Investigations, Training and others.
