Mauricio Estrada has extensive experience in law enforcement, currently serving as a Police Sergeant at the Santa Ana Police Department since April 2018. In this role, Mauricio leads a team focused on community engagement and problem-oriented policing. Previously, Mauricio served as an Organizer for the Centanni-Cottle Memorial 5K Run and Walk from April 2012 to February 2020, honoring the sacrifices of Marines. Earlier roles at the Santa Ana Police Department include Detective Corporal, where responsibilities encompassed leading a gang detective team, and Gang Unit Detective, as the lead investigator on prominent gang-related cases. Mauricio also held positions as a Directed Patrol Officer and Patrol Officer, receiving recognition as the department’s “Officer of the Year.” Educational background includes a High School Diploma from Estancia High School, earned between 1989 and 1992.

The Santa Ana Police Department is a full service police department with a full operational jail staffed by civilian Correction Officers. Santa Ana Police Department is comprised of more than 300 officers and over 200 civilian employees. The department currently has 50 fully funded sworn officer vacancies and numerous civilian vacancies. The opportunity to join a police department where you will rapidly gain seniority has never been greater. We anticipate hiring at least 125 sworn officers over the next 3 years to fill current vacancies and anticipated retirements. The Santa Ana Police Department handles approximately 11,000 calls for service each month and provides full service operations in various divisions such as: Patrol, Traffic, General Investigations, Special Investigations, Training and others.
