Fred Tan

Fred Tan is currently serving as the Fire Marshal at Santa Barbara County Fire Department since September 2021. Prior to this role, Fred worked as Deputy Fire Marshal/Battalion Chief at the same department. Fred also holds the position of Alternate Safety Trustee at Santa Barbara County Employees Retirement System since December 2007. With a background as Battalion Chief at Santa Barbara County Fire from January 2005 to April 2024, Fred brings extensive experience in fire safety and emergency response. Fred is an alumnus of UCLA, completing their education there from September 1991 to June 1995.
