Douglas Young has over 30 years of career firefighter experience with Cal Fire and the Santa Clara County Fire Department. Douglas joined the Santa Clara County Fire Department in 1995 as a Firefighter/Engineer/Paramedic. After 9/11, they joined the Special Operations Task Force and received specialized training in biological, chemical, nuclear warfare defense, explosive training, and tactical medicine. Douglas retired as a Staff Battalion Chief and All Hazards Coordinator. Douglas also has a role as the VP and Co-Owner of Cascade Mountain Group LLC.
Douglas Young attended St. Matthew's School of Medicine from 2000 to 2001. However, no degree or field of study information was provided for this period. Prior to that, they studied at Chabot College from 1994 to 1995, where they obtained a Paramedic degree in the field of study of Paramedic. Douglas'searlier education includes attending the University of California at Santa Cruz from 1987 to 1992. Here, they received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology.

Santa Clara County Fire Department is a California Fire Protection District serving the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga and surrounding unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County.
