Meagan Calahan has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering and geographic information system (GIS). Meagan began their career as a GIS Tech I at the County of Santa Cruz, where they interpreted legal descriptions and worked on updating the parcel base using AutoCAD initially and later transitioning to fully utilizing GIS. Meagan then moved on to become a GIS Tech II at the same organization, where they maintained the Assessor's Parcel Maps database and tracked and updated information such as parcel acreage and owner details.
In 2014, Meagan joined the Santa Clara Valley Water District as an Engineering Technician II. In this role, they processed applications from outside agencies and researched As-Built plans to determine the location of water district facilities. Meagan later advanced to the position of Engineering Technician III, where they became a part of the Community Projects Review Unit and assessed the impact of work on water district facilities. Additionally, they handled database creation and maintenance using Oracle.
Meagan's career at the Santa Clara Valley Water District continued as they became a Senior Engineering Technician, responsible for staff administration and development of work plans. Meagan created and maintained various GIS data layers and issued permits. Most recently, they worked as a Supervising Engineering Technician, acting as a GIS Specialist and providing technical support for their business unit. Meagan maintained land rights information in GIS and oversaw the district's Underground Service Alert program.

Meagan Calahan has a diverse education history. Meagan holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the University of Southern California. Prior to that, they completed their Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in General Education at Cuesta College. Meagan further pursued their education at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature.
