Sam Rolens has a diverse work experience that spans over many years. Currently, Sam works as the Chief of Communication & Community Engagement at Santa Cruz City Schools starting from February 2021. Prior to this, Sam worked at Novacoast from January 2010 to February 2021, holding roles such as Creative Content Manager and Marketing Coordinator. Before Novacoast, Sam held various positions in marketing, writing, and journalism, including working at Fitness 805, Food & Home Magazine, Santa Barbara City College, Santa Barbara Independent, Christie Communications, and Montecito Journal. Additionally, Sam has experience as a Bartender at El Paseo Restaurant and as the Head Writer and Production Manager at Paperback Theatre Company.

Sam Rolens completed their undergraduate education at UC Santa Barbara from 2004 to 2008, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, History, and Music. Following that, from 2012 to 2014, they pursued a Masters of Journalism degree at the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in Journalism.
