I work with all of the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) teachers across our 23 elementary, middle, and high schools to better align how students can all make, present, and enjoy Art. I also maintain our Elementary Musical Instrument inventories and help all of our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students have equal access to specialized music classes within the school day.
I started teaching after finishing my Bachelors in Music and Masters of Arts in Teaching Music at USC in 2008, working with middle and high school music for 4 years across Southern California before moving back to Sonoma County in 2012.

Qualities I value in my colleagues
My communication style
I like to get to the point, it saves time which can be better spent checking in.
My pet peeves
Certainty is the worst. It creates barriers to what could be by defining what is without nuance.
Fun fact
I used to teach music! I still do, but I used to, too. I also play drums, which is the best instrument. There's no wrong notes!
Personal Q&A
Can you describe a typical day of yours?
I teach for an hour at one of our elementary schools, drive to 2 other elementary schools to pick up and drop off instruments/materials, drive to the office and spend a few hours writing curricula, maintaining our instrument library, or planning events, then drive out for an afternoon meeting at the district office or one of our middle/high schools.
