Matthias A. Salas

Matthias A. Salas is an experienced professional in the field of optical engineering and biomedical engineering, currently serving as the Research and Development Team Manager and Senior Optical Engineer at Santec Corporation since January 2021. Previous roles include Postdoctoral Researcher and PhD student at Medical University of Vienna from March 2014 to December 2020, as well as R&D at Imagine Eyes from March 2013 to April 2014. Matthias completed a Master’s degree in Optics at École Polytechnique in 2014 and earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Medical University of Vienna in 2018. Education culminated with a degree in Ingeniero Civil Electricista, Instrumentación Óptica from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, completed in 2010. Early career experience includes an internship at the European Southern Observatory in early 2011 and a master’s program at École Polytechnique from September 2012 to August 2013.
