Ralf Herbrich

Ralf Herbrich is a Professor at the Hasso Plattner Institute and a Machine Learning & AI Scientific Advisor at betteries AMPS GmbH, where they focus on applying principled research to real-world problems. Ralf has served in various leadership roles, including as SVP of Data Science and Machine Learning at Zalando SE and Director of Machine Learning at Amazon, among others. They have published over 80 peer-reviewed papers and are known for their contributions to systems like Drivatars™ and TrueSkill™. Ralf earned PhDs in Computer Science and Theoretical Statistics from Technische Universität Berlin and was a Research Fellow at Darwin College Cambridge. Currently, they also serve as a Member of SAP's Supervisory Board, focusing on product, technology, and finance.
