Gretchen Ziegler

Gretchen Ziegler has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Gretchen most recently worked as a Principal Software Engineer at Sapphire Digital, part of Zelis, starting in April 2023. Prior to that, they served as a Software Engineering Manager, Core Infrastructure at BuzzFeed from November 2021 to April 2023.

Before transitioning into software engineering, Gretchen held several roles at Sapphire Digital, starting as a Senior Software Engineer Team Lead in April 2015 and concluding in October 2021. Gretchen also has experience in the education sector, working as a Teaching Assistant and Full Stack Web Development Immersive Program participant at General Assembly in 2014-2015. Gretchen additionally taught as an SAT, SHSAT, and Pre-SHSAT Instructor at A+ Academy from July 2013 to April 2015, and as an English, Drama, and IB Theory of Knowledge Teacher at Gramercy Arts High School within the NYC Department of Education from July 2008 to September 2014.

Gretchen's earlier work experience includes roles at Portland Stage Company as an Education and Literary Intern from August 2005 to August 2006, Match Education as a MATCH Corps Tutor from August 2004 to August 2005, and the American Repertory Theatre as a Front of House staff member from June 2004 to August 2005.

Following this, they attended New York University from 2006 to 2008 and obtained a Master's degree in Education. After a gap of several years, in 2014 to 2015, Gretchen attended General Assembly for a Web Development Immersive program, specializing in Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services.
