Chief Engineer at SAROST S.A.

Chaabeni Borhen has a range of work experience in the engineering field. Chaabeni started their career as an Engine Cadet at CTN - Compagnie Tunisienne de Navigation, where they gained familiarity with ships. Chaabeni then worked as an Engine Cadet at Metal ship SARL, assisting the engineering officers on the M/V Rades. Following that, they joined SAROST S.A. as an Engine Cadet on the AHTS SAROST 5, where they performed watchkeeping duties and assisted the engine crew. Chaabeni continued with SAROST S.A. and took on the role of Third Engineer on the FSO THAPSUS, responsible for the maintenance and operation of various equipment onboard. Currently, they hold the position of Second Engineer at SAROST S.A. and will soon be promoted to Chief Engineer.

Chaabeni Borhen's education history includes a Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering from the Tunisian Naval Academy, which was obtained from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, in 2011 to 2012, they attended the Institut préparatoire aux études d'ingénieurs de Monastir, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for this period. Their secondary education was completed at Magel Bel Abbes High School from 2006 to 2011, where they obtained a Baccalauréat in Sciences techniques.

In terms of additional certifications, Chaabeni obtained various qualifications from the OMMP (Office de la Marine Marchande et des Ports). Moreover, they obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in Security Awareness Training – STCW A-VI/6 in December 2016 and a Certificate of Proficiency in Medical First Aid Training Onboard Ship – STCW A-VI/4 in the same month and year. Finally, in January 2023, they obtained various certifications, including a Certificate in Proficiency in Advanced Firefighting Training, a Certificate of Proficiency in Basic Safety Training, a Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats, and an Endorsement Attesting the Issue of a Certificate under the Provisions of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as Amended in 1995.
