Mark H. J. Guillet

Mr. Guillet became Acting President and Chief Executive Officer on February 22, 2022.

After convocating with a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Saskatchewan, Mr. Guillet began his career with a major law firm in Saskatoon. He joined SaskEnergy and its group of companies as a Contract Lawyer in 1990 and became a full-time employee in the Law department 1991. In 1995, he was appointed to the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary position and joined the Executive team.

Mr. Guillet had various areas of responsibility. Prior to undertaking his current role, Mr. Guillet was the Executive Vice President, Stakeholder Engagement, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, with overall responsibility for the corporation’s Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Environment, Indigenous & Community Engagement, Communications and Land functions, including being the Corporation’s Chief Privacy Officer.

Mr. Guillet was appointed Queen’s Counsel by the Lieutenant Governor in Council in 2015. This designation recognizes exceptional merit and contribution to the legal profession and community in general. He has also obtained the Certified In-House Counsel Canada (CIC.C) designation and the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation. He was a past board member of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association. Mr. Guillet remains a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan, the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, and the Association of Corporate Counsel.

He is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, and has experience in corporate, commercial, governance, human resources and privacy legal issues. Prior to working at SaskEnergy, he worked as an associate with a major law firm in Saskatoon.
