Shilan Govender

Shilan Govender has a diverse work history in engineering roles. From 2006 to 2008, they worked as a Systems Engineer at Honeywell. In this role, they were involved in system engineering tasks. Starting in 2008, Shilan joined Sasol and held multiple roles. They initially worked as an Engineer, leading a team of 5 engineers and providing support to the SASOL Secunda Refinery units. They were responsible for identifying and resolving control system issues, conducting root cause analyses, and ensuring compliance with specifications. In 2015, Shilan took on the position of Engineering Lead - Governance, Design & RPO, where they led a team of 9 engineers. Their responsibilities included providing governance in the engineering space, managing system upgrades and replacements, and ensuring optimal site performance. They maintained communication with various SASOL companies and business units within the Secunda site.

Shilan Govender completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand from 2002 to 2005. Later, from 2011 to 2014, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Management from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika. In 2016 and 2017, Shilan pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) at the Graduate School of Business - University of Cape Town.
