Santiago Serrano has a diverse work experience in various scientific and research roles. Santiago is currently serving as the Head of Image processing and Scientific missions at SATLANTIS since 2022. In 2023, they will join the Institut d'Estudis Espacials de Catalunya - IEEC as the ARRAKIHS Mission Science Instrument Coordinator.
Prior to that, Santiago worked at the Institut d'Estudis Espacials de Catalunya - IEEC for a significant period from 2011 to 2022. During this time, they held multiple positions including Project Manager of the Data Management System for the Physics of the Accelerating Universe Survey, Lead of the Organization Unit of Simulations in the Euclid Mission (ESA), Responsible for the Dark Energy Spectroscopy Instrument auto guiding system, and Deputy Coordinator of the Physics of the Accelerating Universe Survey Strategy.
Before joining IEEC, Santiago worked at CSIC from 2007 to 2015. In this role, they were responsible for the Physics of the Accelerating Universe Camera guiding and focusing system, as well as the Dark Energy Camera auto guiding system.
Additionally, Santiago also worked at the Centre for Communications Research (Bristol) in 2007, where they worked on Scalable Video Coding for Cognitive Radio.

Santiago Serrano pursued their education chronologically beginning with a Telecommunications Engineering degree at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya from 2001 to 2007. Santiago then moved on to the University of Bristol in 2007, where they completed their Master Thesis in Telecommunications Engineering. Finally, Santiago enrolled at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2018 and completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics in 2021.
