Corporate Venture Capital at Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures

Richard Riggs has over ten years of experience in the corporate venture capital and research fields. Richard began their career in 2001 as an intern at Ribotargets. In 2005, they became a Postdoc at Ciba, where they worked in the field of new materials for "home and personal care" applications. In 2006, Richard joined BASF as a Research Scientist, where they worked on light stabilisers, plastics stabilisers, UV-absorbers, antioxidants, polymer additives, skin, hair and beauty care ingredients, and formulation. In 2012, they became an Investment Manager at BASF Venture Capital GmbH, where they invested in technology companies which were strategically important as well as providing risk-adequate financial returns. Finally, in 2014, Richard joined Aramco Ventures as a Corporate Venture Capital, where their mission was to invest globally into early-stage and high growth companies with technologies of strategic importance to Aramco.

Richard Riggs completed a PhD in Chemistry from the University of St Andrews from 2002 to 2005. Prior to that, they completed an M.Chem in Chemistry with advanced chemistry from the same university from 1998 to 2002. In 2013, they completed the Foundations of Management pre-MBA from the University of St.Gallen. Finally, they completed the International Directors Programme from INSEAD in 2018-2019.
