Berta Biescas

Berta Biescas has been working in various roles since 2003. Berta started as a Researcher in Seismology at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Sismologicas de Cuba in 2003. In 2006, they moved to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas as a Researcher in Marine Science. From 2011 to 2014, they were a Marie Curie Researcher at Dalhousie University, where they also worked as a Research Assistant in 2014. In 2013, they were a Marie Curie Researcher at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas. In 2017, they worked as a Teacher of Mathematics at the Generalitat de Catalunya. From 2018 to 2019, they were an ML Engineer and Data Scientist at Insikt Intelligence. Currently, they are an Associate Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a Senior Data Scientist at Savana.

Berta Biescas obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from Universitat de Barcelona between 1999 and 2003, and a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the same institution between 1993 and 1999. Berta has also obtained additional certifications from Udemy, The University of Waikato, and Duolingo, including Pytorch for Deep Learning and Computer Vision (2020), Advance Data Mining with Weka (2018), and Fluidez de Duolingo en italiano: Básico and Principiante (both 2016).
