María López-Menduiña has been working in the field since 2007 when they began as Research Personnel in Training at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Her role involved researching the GH-IGF axis and muscle cachexia in a model of rheumatoid arthritis in rat, as well as experimental design, handling experimental animals, handling samples, RNA extraction, Real Time PCR, Western-Blot, RIA, and congress attendance. In 2016, they joined the Youth Employability Programme of Fundación Telefónica as a Big data & Business Intelligence Student. Most recently, in 2017, they became a Clinical Data Scientist at Savana.
María López-Menduiña has a diverse educational background. María attended Universidad de Murcia from 2000 to 2003, where they completed the first three years of medical school. María then attended Universidad de Zaragoza from 2004 to 2006, where they earned a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry. In 2015, María attended Universidad Complutense de Madrid for a Summer School in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. María also earned a Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics from Universidad de Murcia in 2016. Additionally, María has obtained two certifications: a 12th Reunión Internacional sobre Investigación Traslacional y Medicina de Precisión Medicina genómica: Avances en la clínica e investigación ¿Dónde estamos? from Fundación Instituto Roche in 2017, and a Gestión de la Información Científica en Abierto (4.ª edición) from Miríada X in 2015.
