Michael J. Martínez-Rodríguez has extensive work experience in various engineering and research roles. Michael J. currently holds the position of Principal Engineer at Savannah River National Laboratory since March 2015. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Technology Officer at Greenway Energy LLC from January 2007 to December 2019. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Senior Engineer and Post-Doctoral Researcher at Savannah River National Laboratory from October 2008 to March 2015. Michael J. also held positions as a Post-Doctoral Researcher and Research Assistant at the University of South Carolina from August 2003 to May 2010, focusing on fuel cell research and developing mathematical models. Additionally, they gained research experience as a Research Assistant at the US Army Corps of Engineers in 2002 and 2001, and as an Engineer Assistant at Pharmacia in 2000.

Michael J. Martínez-Rodríguez earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Carolina from 2003-2008. Prior to that, they obtained an MS in Environmental Engineering from the Universidad de Puerto Rico from 2000-2003. Their undergraduate studies were also completed at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, where they earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from 1994-2000.
