Ruth Butterworth is a seasoned professional in food security and livelihoods, currently serving as a Global Food Security and Livelihoods Technical Advisor at Save the Children UK since December 2019. In this role, Ruth provides technical support and thought leadership to Country Offices, collaborating with various thematic teams on program design and implementation. Prior to this, Ruth held positions at Farm Africa as a Market Systems Development Advisor, leading the AMDT Market Systems Development Programme in the sunflower edible oil sub-sector, and at GOAL Global as a Desk Officer overseeing coordination, grant management, and donor compliance for the East and Southern Africa region. Ruth's academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Economy from the University of Greenwich, a Master's degree in the Economics of Rural Change from Imperial College London, and a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Food Management from Cranfield University.
