Ben Friedman is an experienced professional in government affairs and public funding, currently serving as the Director of Government Affairs and Public Funding at Save the Redwoods League since November 2022. In this role, Ben builds and manages programs that support the organization's mission to protect and restore California redwoods. Prior to this, Ben held positions such as Government Affairs and Public Grants Officer and Board Secretary for the Rockridge Community Planning Council. Ben's earlier experience includes roles at the Western Conservation Foundation, where a California public lands program was established to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion, as well as working as a National Conservation Lands Coordinator for The Wilderness Society and serving on the House Natural Resources Committee. Ben holds a Master's degree in Natural Resources and Conservation from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, in Geological Sciences from Brown University.
