Savoy Medical Center was founded in 1950 by Dr. Frank Savoy, Sr., and Dr. Frank Savoy, Jr. Encompassing over 200,000 square feet, SMC is a 60-bed general acute care hospital, including 6 beds designated for Intensive Care and 5 beds for inpatient physical rehab. Adjacent to the hospital is Savoy Cancer Center, which provides radiation and oncology services. SMC provides services to an average of 2,200 outpatients and 600 emergency department visits per month. Also, five rural clinics, located within a 30-mile radius serve as satellite programs with outpatient atmospheres. Savoy also provides a 27-bed distinct-part psychiatric facility, partial day and intensive outpatient psychiatric unit. Also, Savoy has a 24-bed chemical dependency residential program. In 2015, CHRISTUS Health Central Louisiana took over the management operations of the hospital. SMC is licensed by the Department of Health and Hospitals of the State of Louisiana. It is accredited by the Joint Commission and is certified to participate in the Medicare (Title XVIII) and Medicaid (Title XIX) reimbursement programs. Drawing from a population of approximately 75,000, SMC has always been and will continue to be, the leader in health care technology and resources in south-central Louisiana.
