Shon Bynum

Shon Bynum has over 20 years of work experience, with their most recent role being the Director of Information Security at the State Board of Administration of Florida since July 2018. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Information Security Officer / HIPAA Security Officer at the Florida Department of Health from March 2014 to July 2018. Shon also held positions at the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity as the Enterprise Information Security Manager from December 2012 to March 2014, and as the Senior Information Systems Business Consultant - SES from September 2011 to December 2012. Before joining the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, they worked as the Information Systems Security Officer at the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation from March 2009 to September 2011. Shon Bynum began their career in the United States Marine Corps, where they served as a Staff Sergeant from January 1999 to January 2009.

Shon Bynum began their education at the University of South Carolina from 2002 to 2003, where they obtained an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Science. They then attended the University of Maryland Global Campus from 2005 to 2006 and earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Social Science / Human Resources Management.

In addition to their academic degrees, Shon Bynum has obtained several certifications. They became a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) through ISACA in September 2012. They also earned the Certified Authorization Professional (CAP) designation from (ISC)2 in September 2013, and the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)2 in February 2014.

Furthermore, Shon Bynum achieved the ISO/IEC 20000 ITSM Specialist certification from EXIN in July 2015. They obtained the Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer credential from ISACA in August 2020. They also hold the Security Awareness and Culture Professional certification issued by H Layer Credentialing since June 2022.

Shon Bynum's most recent certification is the Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) from (ISC)2, which they obtained in June 2023. Throughout their educational and professional journey, Shon Bynum has focused on acquiring skills and knowledge in various areas of information security, IT management, and human resources.
