Principal Engineer at ScaleFlux

Mark Vernon has a long history of work experience in the engineering field. Mark began their career in 1985 as a Design Engineer for Unisys, where they helped develop the "Fast Structured Logic" design methodology for digital design with GaAs MESFETs. Mark then moved to Evans & Sutherland in 1988 as a Principal ASIC Design Engineer, where they were responsible for VLSI design of computer graphics chips. In 2002, they became a Senior Electrical Engineer at Sonic Innovations, designing and implementing digital audio processing algorithms for hearing aids. In 2011, they took on two roles: a Staff FPGA Design Engineer at L-3 Communications and a Principal Hardware Engineer at Fusion-io. At L-3 Communications, they designed and implemented VHDL code to assist in maintaining the viability of a network in a hostile environment and designed, implemented, and tested new satellite receiver features by modifying the VHDL on an existing FPGA design. At Fusion-io, they designed and implemented a new LDPC decoding algorithm for Fusion-IO's Generation 5 NAND controller that performed both hard- and soft-decision decoding. In 2014, they took on the role of Senior Staff System Design Engineer at SanDisk. Finally, in 2016, they became a Principal Engineer at ScaleFlux.

Mark Vernon obtained their high school diploma from North Summit High School in 1979. Mark then attended the University of Utah and earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1983 and an M. En. in Electrical Engineering in 1984.
