Karen Schulte has a diverse and extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Karen is currently serving as President at SCAN since 2023 and previously held the position of SVP, Network Management from 2021 to 2023. Before joining SCAN, Karen worked as a Healthcare Executive Advisor at Karen Schulte Independent Consulting from 2020 to 2021. Prior to that, they were the Chief Operating Officer at CareMore Health Plan from 2016 to 2020 and briefly served as the CA General Manager in 2016. Karen also had a long tenure at SCAN Health Plan, where they held the role of General Manager, Northern CA from 2006 to 2016. Earlier in their career, they worked at Buenaventura Medical Group as the VP, Network Development from 2002 to 2006 and at SeaView IPA as the VP, Managed Care from 1998 to 2002.
Karen Schulte attended the University of Southern California from 1992 to 1994, where they earned a Master's degree in Health Administration. Prior to that, from 1988 to 1992, they studied at UCLA and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology.
