Mercedes Perezchica has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and positions. Mercedes most recently worked as the Director of Community Giving-Independence at Home at SCAN Health Plan since August 2019, where they were responsible for creating strategies, leading program development, and managing budgets. Previously, they served as the Aging Services Program Manager at the City of Long Beach from February 2018 to August 2019. Prior to that, they worked at First 5 LA as a Program Officer, overseeing health programs for young children and establishing partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Mercedes also held the position of Director of Research and Evaluation at Youth Policy Institute, where they developed and managed relationships with project partners and led evaluation design planning. Mercedes started their career as a Research Assistant at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, where they co-authored a community assessment curriculum. Mercedes also has experience as an Associate Director at Advancement Project (CA), managing staff and cultivating partnerships for city and county planning efforts.
Mercedes Perezchica holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Hispanic Studies from Brown University. Mercedes also obtained a Master of Public Health degree in Community Health Sciences from UCLA.
