Joseph Scanlan has a diverse work experience with roles in various companies. Joseph began their career in 1975 as the Director of Physician Relations at MedGeneral, and worked there until 1977. After that, they pursued a career in music and played as a full-time musician/drummer with several groups until 1984. In the same year, they joined Scanlan Group as Vice President and later became the Vice President of Business Development at Surgical Technologies Incorporated (STI), a division of the Scanlan Group. Joseph also served as the Vice President and General Manager of STI for 13 years. In 2020, they became the Director of Culture at Scanlan International, Inc.
Joseph Scanlan completed their high school education at St. Thomas Academy and earned their high school degree in general studies in 1968. Joseph then attended the University of Minnesota from 1968 to 1970, studying psychology and philosophy but did not obtain a degree. In 2002, they briefly attended the University of St. Thomas, where they completed a Mini Masters program in Business Administration and Management.
