Elmar de Pauw

Elmar de Pauw is a seasoned professional in intellectual property, currently serving as the Senior Director of Intellectual Property at Scenic Biotech since February 2023. With extensive experience, Elmar has held the position of Patent Counsel at Amsterdam UMC since September 2011, specializing in drafting and prosecuting patent applications and defending patent rights before the EPO. Prior to this, Elmar worked as Senior Patent Counsel at Centrient Pharmaceuticals from June 2017 to February 2023, focusing on identifying IP opportunities, managing patent portfolios, and preparing global patent strategies. Elmar's career began at Vereenigde as a Patent Attorney trainee, following roles at Leiden University in various capacities, including a Ph.D. program on the ageing of blood stem cells. Elmar's educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Medicine from Leiden University, a degree in Octrooigemachtigde, and certification as a European Patent Attorney from the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies.
