Todd Backer

Todd Backer has a strong and diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. In their most recent role as President at Schaffer Manufacturing, they oversee the production of metal products and specialized wear parts for critical infrastructure OEMs. Prior to that, they served as a Chief Executive Officer at a consumer goods, electronics, manufacturing, and medical device company.

Todd also held the position of Fractional COO, Chief Problem Solver, and EOS Integrator at Fractional Exec Solutions, where they provided operational leadership to small to mid-sized manufacturing and contract manufacturing organizations.

Before that, Todd was the Vice President of Operations at Motion Tech Automation, where they focused on contract manufacturing of electrical subassemblies, medical devices, precision sensors, and CNC machining. Todd fostered a culture of innovation and collaboration through cross-functional partnerships.

Todd also held leadership positions at Lincoln Industries, Rice Lake Weighing Systems, Eagle Creek Strategies, and Red Wing Shoe Co. In these roles, they were responsible for various aspects of business operations, including manufacturing, sales, engineering, finance, and customer relationship development.

Earlier in their career, Todd worked at Seagate Technology as a Business Unit Manager, Operations and Engineering Director, Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and Operations Manager. Todd successfully led international teams and implemented cost-saving measures.

Todd started their career at Cypress Semiconductor, where they established and grew a new development and manufacturing organization as a Business Unit Manager.

Todd Backer has a diverse education history. Todd holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Materials Science and Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to that, they obtained two Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees, one in Chemical Engineering and another in Metallurgical Engineering, both from the University of Minnesota. Additionally, they completed a Mini Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management from the University of St. Thomas - Opus College of Business, and a Mini Executive Masters in Finance, also from the same institution.

In addition to their formal education, Todd has several certifications. Todd completed the Executive Development Program at Harvard Business School and earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from the Six Sigma Institute. Todd also obtained a Professional Engineering License from the Texas State Board of Engineering. Furthermore, Todd achieved the certifications of Six Sigma Executive Champion from the Six Sigma Academy and Six Sigma Master Blackbelt from the Quality Systems Institute.
