Dr. Ashley Godbold, DCS has diverse work experience in the field of game development and education. Dr. Ashley worked as a Senior Engineer at Schell Games, where they served as the Tech Director/Senior Engineer on a project and also worked on Among Us VR. Furthermore, Ashley founded Mouse Potato Games LLC in 2013 and served as the Founder/CEO, Lead Programmer, and Developer. In this role, they specialized in full-stack 2D game development, creating games both in-house and on a contract basis. Dr. Ashley was responsible for programming all aspects of the games and creating 2D art and animations using various software.
Ashley also has experience in the field of education. Dr. Ashley worked as an Interactive Arts and Media Instructor at Columbia College Chicago and as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Southern New Hampshire University and Parker University. Additionally, they served as a Computer Information Systems Adjunct Instructor at Parker University and as a Visiting Computer Science Instructor at Augsburg University.
Apart from their work in game development and education, Dr. Godbold has contributed to the industry as an Author and Video Creator for Packt. Dr. Ashley also worked at Unity Technologies, where they held multiple roles. As a Unity Subject-Matter Expert/Unity Certified Instructor, they presented workshops to game studios on behalf of Unity and was involved in the creation of Unity certification exams. Additionally, they served as a Live Learning Content Producer, hosting and editing videos for learn.unity.com.
Ashley's most recent roles include working as a Senior Unity Engineer at Nifty League and as a Lead Unity Engineer at Glow Up Games. At Glow Up Games, they were responsible for data architecture, backend development, third-party integration, user interface development, LiveOps, and DevOps. Dr. Ashley integrated PlayFab into the project and shipped the title "Insecure: The Come Up Game." Dr. Ashley was also involved in a location-based, AR project for the Niantic Black Developers Initiative.
Dr. Ashley Godbold, DCS, has an extensive education history. Dr. Ashley obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Francis Marion University from 2002 to 2006. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from the College of Charleston, completing it in 2008.
In 2010, Dr. Godbold enrolled at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online, where they earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Video Game Art and Design from 2010 to 2014. Later, they undertook a Doctor of Computer Science degree with a focus on Emerging Media at Colorado Technical University, graduating in 2016.
In addition to their academic degrees, Dr. Godbold has acquired several certifications. Dr. Ashley obtained certifications as a Unity Certified Instructor and Unity Certified Programmer from Unity Technologies in February 2020. In February 2016, they received certification in Computer Science and Information Technology Researchers-Human Subjects Research from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI). Furthermore, they obtained their BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) certification from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association in June 2014.
