Michael Giel Schoonis

Michael Giel Schoonis serves as the Regional General Counsel for DB Schenker since August 2019, following a distinguished career in legal roles including Regional General Counsel for Kuehne + Nagel from February 2011 to June 2019, and Manager of Legal Affairs at Etihad Airways from February 2009 to February 2011. Prior experience includes over two decades at KLM, Royal Dutch Airlines in various legal capacities, including Sr. Legal Counsel roles. Michael's early legal career featured a position with the IATA Cargo Legal Working Group and academic involvement at Leiden University as an Assessor/Librarian for the Institute for Air and Space Law. Educational qualifications encompass a Law degree with a focus on International Law, Aviation, and EU law from Leiden University, along with professional training as Company Counsel from Stichting Beroepsopleiding Bedrijfsjuristen.
