Kate Sylvester has a diverse work experience in the field of education. Kate started their career in 2002 as a teacher in the School District of Philadelphia and later worked as a teacher in the District of Columbia Public Schools. In 2009, they became a School Based Teacher Leader in the School District of Philadelphia and held this role until 2015, when they transitioned to become a School Principal in the same district. In 2017, Kate joined the University of Pennsylvania as a University Mentor and also briefly served on the PSSA Standard Setting Committee at Data Recognition Corporation in 2015. Currently, they are working as the Principal, Talent Partners in the School District of Philadelphia.

Kate Sylvester has a diverse education history. Kate obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Elementary Education from Drexel University in 2002. In 2007, they completed their Master of Arts in Education and Human Development with a focus on Education Policy Studies at The George Washington University. Later, in 2013, they earned a Master of Science in Education with a specialization in the School Leadership Program from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2016, they became a National Principals Academy Fellow at Relay Graduate School of Education. From 2017 to 2019, they attended the Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders as a Neubauer Fellow. Kate Sylvester also holds various teaching certificates, including an Elementary K-6 Instructional II Teaching Certificate, a Mid-Level Citizenship Education 7-9 Instructional II Teaching Certificate, a Mid-Level English 7-9 Instructional II Teaching Certificate, and a Principal K-12 Administrative I Certificate, all obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
