Phyllis Hurwitz is an experienced educator with a diverse background in teaching and coaching within various school districts and institutions. Currently serving as a Climate and Culture Coach for Social Emotional Learning and as a College and Career Readiness Teacher K-8 at The School District of Philadelphia since August 2019, Phyllis has also held positions as a 5th-grade teacher at Potter Thomas Promise Academy. Additional experience includes work as a substitute teacher for the Lower Merion School District and an instructional coach and elementary school teacher at The Shipley School from August 2017 to August 2019. Phyllis began teaching as a 5th-grade teacher with the NYC Department of Education from 1996 to 2006. In the fitness industry, Phyllis has been a boot camp instructor at The Yoga Garden and a personal trainer at FitnessByPhyllis since 2010 and 2009, respectively. Phyllis holds a Master of Education in Elementary Education and Teaching from Barry University and a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Colorado Boulder.
