Julia joined the Schooner Foundation in 2018 as Executive Director and oversees the vision and execution of the Foundation’s strategic direction and grant making activities, domestically and internationally. In her role, Julia seeks to advance the Foundation’s human rights focus by leveraging funds where there is the greatest need and opportunity. Previously, Julia served as Executive Director at African Food and Peace Foundation (AFPF). Prior to her work at AFPF, Julia consulted for the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GiZ), and held positions at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the Education Development Center. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Julia currently serves as a member of the National Cancer Institute’s Pediatric Leukemia and Lymphoma Steering Committee.
