Paula Harvey, SHRM-SCP, has extensive work experience in Human Resources and training. Paula currently serves as the Vice President of Human Resources/Safety at Schulte Building Systems, Inc., where they oversee HR operations for three locations across the US. Additionally, Paula is an Adjunct Instructor at Rice University, teaching HR-related topics. Paula previously worked as the Director of Human Resources at Elementia USA, where they led HR functions and implemented improvements in areas such as employee retention and performance management. Paula also has experience in HR consulting, training, and recruiting through their role as the President/Strategic Business Consultant at K&P Consulting, Inc. Paula has held various teaching positions at Central Piedmont Community College, Wingate University, and The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Prior to that, Paula served as the Director of Human Resources/Safety at SteelFab, Inc. and the HR/Safety Manager at Genwove US Ltd, where they developed policies and procedures and worked with organized labor.
Paula Harvey, SHRM-SCP, obtained their BBA degree in International Business and Management from the Texas McCombs School of Business from 1983 to 1987. Paula then pursued further education and earned an MBA degree in Human Resource Management from the UNC Charlotte Belk College of Business from 1996 to 1999.
In addition to their academic achievements, Paula has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2000, they obtained the SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) certification from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI. This was followed by the Advanced Safety Certified (ASC) certification from the National Safety Council in 2004. In 2006, they obtained the GPHR (Global Professional in Human Resources) certification, again from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI.
In 2014, Paula obtained the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management). That same year, they also earned the Mental Health Ally certification from the SHRM Foundation. In 2019, Paula obtained the SHRM Talent Acquisition Specialty certification from SHRM.
Most recently, in 2023, they obtained the Mental Health First Aid certification from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
