MacOn Morehouse

Macon Morehouse has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. They started their career in 1986 as a Staff Writer at Congressional Quarterly Weekly Report. From there, Macon worked as a Staff Writer at The Charlotte Observer before joining The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a Staff Writer. At the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Macon covered various beats, including the 1996 Olympics, local courts, emergency medical services, and feature news stories. They also won awards for their medical journalism and investigative reporting.

In 1998, Macon moved on to become a Staff Correspondent at PEOPLE magazine, where they worked for nearly a decade. They then joined American Academy of Pediatrics as an Assistant Director of Public Affairs and Member Advocacy, handling media relations and lobbying on children and media issues.

In 2008, Macon took on two roles simultaneously. They became a Senior Editor at National Geographic, specializing in extreme exploration, and also worked as a Freelance Journalist, reporting and writing for various national and local publications, including PEOPLE magazine, USA Weekend, and the Washington Post.

Most recently, Macon became the News Director at Science News in 2014.

Macon Morehouse attended Sidwell Friends School from 1977 to 1982. It is unknown if Macon obtained a degree or pursued a specific field of study during this time. From 1982 to 1986, Macon attended Middlebury College, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in American Studies.
