Jan Mast

Jan Mast is currently the Head of Service Trace Elements and Nanomaterials at Sciensano, a position held since 2018. Previously, Jan led the Service Electron Microscopy at CODA / CERVA from 2000 to 2016, managing a team focused on TEM-based research in both life sciences and nanotechnology. In their earlier career, Jan conducted research on developing an in ovo vaccine against Newcastle disease virus as a Post Doc. Jan also worked as a Research Assistant at KU Leuven, contributing to veterinary immunology projects and teaching master's students. Jan holds a Doctorate in Applied Biological Sciences with a focus on Avian Immunology from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, where they also earned a degree in Agricultural Engineering.
