Tyler Flack has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering and research. Tyler worked as a Section Head of Advanced Systems & Testing/Pulse Power & RF Engineer at Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. starting from April 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Pulse Power & RF Engineer at the same company from October 2016 to April 2022.
Before joining Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc., Tyler worked as a Contract Engineer at Group NIRE from June 2015 to September 2016. In this role, they developed a synchrophasor network for research purposes in renewable energy systems and assisted in creating technical documents for facilities and systems.
Tyler also gained experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at Texas Tech University under Dr. Stephen Bayne. During their time as a research assistant, they developed a synchrophasor network for fundamental research and served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, supporting the administrative duties of the electrical and computer engineering department.
Additionally, Tyler had internships and research assistant roles during their undergraduate years at Texas Tech University and Scientific Applications and Research Associates, Inc. These positions involved projects related to pulsed power, transient characterization, cyber security, and operating equipment in the lab.
Tyler Flack began their education journey in 2008 at Brazosport College, where they obtained an Associate of Science (AS) degree. Tyler later pursued their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering at Texas Tech University, from 2009 to 2012. Continuing their studies at the same university, Tyler achieved a Master's of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering between 2013 and 2015. Tyler has recently pursued further academic advancement and is currently working towards a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical Engineering at Texas Tech University, with an expected completion in 2024. Tyler Flack also holds a certification as an Engineer Intern, obtained from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies in May 2022.
