Dan Kagan has had a diverse range of work experience. Dan served as President and COO at Scientist.com since April 2020 and was previously the Chief Operating Officer from September 2015 to April 2020. Dan also completed an intensive digital marketing and leadership situational training program during their internship at eBoost Consulting from January 2012 to July 2012.

Dan's early career included a role as a Bioengineering Graduate Student at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) from September 2007 to July 2012. Under Professor Joseph Wang, they worked on a project focusing on engineering synthetic nano/microscale machines for various bio-analytical applications. Dan also worked at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as an IRTA Post-Baccalaureate under Dr. Beverly Mock from June 2006 to July 2007. Here, they investigated and named a new cancer-causing gene, leading to a publication in Blood. Dan further developed their laboratory and scientific writing skills and presented their findings at group lab meetings.

Additionally, Dan gained valuable experience as a Research Assistant (Intern) at Colgate Palmolive from May 2004 to September 2005. Dan researched and presented data that led to the termination of a major competitor's international marketing campaign. Dan also contributed to the design, optimization, and testing of new deodorant products launched by the company.

Dan Kagan obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Mathematics from Rutgers University from 2002 to 2006. Dan then pursued further education at the National Institutes of Health from 2006 to 2007, where they earned a Post Baccalaureate degree in Oncology and Cancer Biology. Subsequently, from 2007 to 2012, Dan completed both their Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Bioengineering at UC San Diego. Their field of study in this program focused on the application of nanomachines in biology.
