Matt McLoughlin

Matt McLoughlin has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Matt began their career at AstraZeneca in 2000, starting as an Associate Scientist in the Research & Development Genetics department. Matt specialized in molecular biology and drug discovery while also pursuing a BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences degree. During their time at AstraZeneca, Matt held various roles, including Scientist, Senior Scientist, and Global Sourcing Manager, where they managed global category procurement for Human Biological Samples.

In 2016, Matt joined Scientist.com as a Senior Director of Compliance. Matt led the development of a human biospecimen acquisition platform and established a compliance and governance framework called COMPLI™. Matt later became the Vice President of Compliance and Category Management, where they developed and implemented a new global category strategy initiative covering drug discovery and global compliance standards.

In 2020, Matt was promoted to the role of Senior Vice President of Compliance and Category Management at Scientist.com. In this role, they led the implementation of a third-party due diligence process and ensured the highest quality supplier selection for research outsourcing.

In 2021, Matt took on a temporary guest lecturer position at Institut Pasteur, where they delivered a section on Legal, Ethical, and Compliance-related activities in the biobanking industry as part of the MOOC Biobanking Course.

Matt McLoughlin completed a Diploma in Purchasing, Procurement/Acquisitions and Contracts Management from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply from 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Hons degree in Biological Sciences from The Manchester Metropolitan University between 2000 and 2005. Before attending university, they attended Aquinas College Stockport from 1998 to 2000. Matt completed their high school education at Harrytown RC High School from 1993 to 1998. Therefore, they have a diverse educational background in procurement, biological sciences, and general education.
