Jim Helfgott

District Director at SCORE Mentors

Jim Helfgott has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Jim began their career in the cable industry as General Manager at Rollins Cablevision Rhode Island in 1985. Jim then worked as VP and GM at TKR Cable Company from 1987 to 1997.

In 1997, Helfgott joined Skyview World Media as SVP Sales and Marketing, where they were responsible for marketing and distributing 16 channels of programming for ethnic and foreign language speaking audiences in North America. After that, they worked at HBO CE as VP Sales and Marketing Central Europe, overseeing core distribution, marketing, and branding of HBO channels and managing consumer sales activities.

Jim later joined Sand Cherry Associates in 2006 as the Managing Director for Europe, focusing on expanding the business and working with major MSOs in the broadband industry. In 2010, Helfgott became the Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Liberty Global, where they were responsible for marketing, sales, and product development for UPC DTH products in Central European countries.

From 2017 to 2022, Helfgott worked as a Consultant for Sand Cherry, providing support to the telecommunications industry. In 2020, they also pursued a career as an Author in "Riding Currents of Change." Currently, Helfgott is District Director at SCORE Mentors, where they volunteer to support small businesses in South Carolina and provides mentoring and educational support for their growth and development.

Jim Helfgott obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Communication and Media Studies from Hofstra University, which they attended from 1975 to 1979. In 1980 and 1981, they pursued studies in PR and Marketing at American University. Jim also completed an Executive Program (Lead Forward- Liberty Global) at IMD in 2014. Additionally, they became a Certified Mentor through SCORE, in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration, although the specific dates of this certification are not provided.
