Michael Dickson

Michael Dickson OBE currently serves as the Chief Executive of the Scottish Ambulance Service, a role assumed in July 2023. Previously, Michael held the position of Chief Executive Officer at NHS Shetland from January 2020 to July 2023 and was the Hub Director for the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) Programme from October 2017 to January 2020, focusing on improving NHS quality of care and reducing variations. Additional experience includes leadership roles at SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, West Herts NHS Trust, Central Surrey Health, and Healthcare at Home, with a strong emphasis on quality governance, risk management, and compliance. Michael's early career featured significant contributions within the UK Department of Health, including leading complex projects aimed at reducing healthcare-associated infections and improving patient outcomes across various trusts in Northern Ireland.
