Zane Pretorius

Zane Pretorius currently serves as the General Manager at Bakkafrost Scotland, a role taken on in February 2025 to advance the Applecross Freshwater RAS operations. Prior to this, Zane held the position of Marine Area Manager at Bakkafrost from August 2016 to February 2025, overseeing marine Atlantic salmon farming operations across multiple sites on the Isle of Mull, Isle of Gigha, Isle of Arran, and Loch Striven. Experience also includes serving as Seawater Manager at Kames Fish Farming from April 2014 to August 2016, where management of marine fish farms producing various species was the primary focus, and working as a Fish Farmer at Torhouse Trout Limited from June 2010 to April 2014, responsible for all aspects of fish husbandry and site operations. Zane holds a Bachelor of Science BSc (Hons) in Aquaculture and Fishery Management from the University of Portsmouth, a Higher National Certificate in Fish Farming from SRUC, and completed higher education at Dumfries High School with a focus on Geography, Information Systems, Biology, Maths, and English.
