Gerd Wuestemann serves as the President & CEO of Scottsdale Arts since March 2018, overseeing one of Arizona's largest arts non-profits, which includes multiple cultural institutions. Prior to this role, Gerd Wuestemann was the Executive Director of the Acadiana Center for the Arts from June 2008 to March 2018. Gerd Wuestemann's career began in self-employment as a touring and recording artist from 1980 to 2008, with extensive global performances and twelve recordings. Additionally, Gerd Wuestemann was a Professor of Guitar Studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 1997 to 2002. Gerd Wuestemann holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Classical Guitar from the University of Arizona, a Masters of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and both Bachelors and Masters of Music from Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst.

Scottsdale Arts (formerly Scottsdale Cultural Council), a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is contracted by the City of Scottsdale, Arizona, to administer certain City arts and cultural projects and to manage the City-owned Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Scottsdale Public Art Program. The programs of Scottsdale Arts are made possible, in part, by the support of members and donors and grants received from the Arizona Commission on the Arts through appropriations from the Arizona State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. Its mission is to serve Scottsdale residents, visitors, cultural institutions, and artists by creating and advancing high quality arts and cultural experiences and opportunities.
