Application Engineer at Scout Drone Inspection

Malshan Perera began their work experience as an Engineering Trainee at Sri Lanka Ports Authority in November 2015. Malshan then worked as an Engineering Trainee at Bently CAE research unit from December 2016 to March 2017. In February 2018, they became an Assistant Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at SLIIT and held the position until January 2019. From January to July 2019, they worked at the University of Moratuwa as an Engineer, focusing on ardupilot coding, advanced drone development, and drone CAD/CAM. During this time, they coordinated the product development of the CeyGull Aerial Mapping UAV and accomplished weight optimization through topology-based techniques. In October 2020, Malshan joined the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) as a Teaching Assistant, serving until January 2021. Currently, they are employed at ScoutDI as an Application Engineer, a position they started in August 2021.

Malshan Perera pursued their education in a chronological manner. Malshan began their academic journey at Lyceum International School, where they completed their Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level studies in Science from 2009 to 2011. Malshan then progressed to Lyceum International School again, where they pursued Cambridge GCE Advanced Level studies in Mathematics from 2011 to 2013. Following this, Malshan enrolled at Curtin University and earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Mechanical Engineering, which they completed between 2013 and 2017. Lastly, they further expanded their knowledge and skills by attending the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 2019 to 2021, where they obtained a Master's degree specializing in Product and System Design.
